a little day hike

We made our first efforts at hiking out of the Thimphu valley today. It took most of the day to climb to 3400 meters (about 10,000 feet) where we reached a Bhutanese chorten (stone Buddhist monument) with wonderful views of the town below. We picnicked near a freezing cold river on mushroom cakes and jerky (thanks Uncle Dave). It was a long fun day and we are exhausted.

Olivia splashed and slid down the mini-falls of the icy water until she couldn't feel her feet!

  1. This is so exciting watching you all frolicking in the hills. Is this the new pet to replace the cats?
Keep the pictures coming. We love it!
